Can
anyone tell me if there is a way to clip the overlapping area of two
adjacent DEMs in ArcGIS 9 (Editor seat)? I have each DEM set at 50%
transparency, which makes the overlap visible. I need a seamless
surface and I can't do away with the transparency. Any guidance on how
to do this would be great.

thinking off the top of my head - I haven't had the opportunity to try
this. But, could you use Raster Calculator, and subtract one DEM from
the other?

I don't know if that will get rid of the overlap.
But, when I have two adjacent rasters, and I want to combine them into
one image, I use the 'add' function in Raster Calculator to get them
together. Just wondering if subtract might do something similar. "

for the reply, much appreciated. Is the 'Raster Calculator', a tool
within the Spatial Analyst extension? I'm guessing that it is...and I
don't have it. Too bad for me.

I think I can do this in Global
Mapper using their ""crop to selected area"" option in the raster export.
I just worry that the output from Global Mapper will look different
from my other rasters. Plus, this will be my first time using GM. I'll
try it and see what happens. Thanks again.

Under
Data Management Tools you can mosaic the two DEM's using the raster
tool. Options include blending the two images, or using the first
raster or second raster grid cell value.

I used the 'Mosaic to New Raster' and it worked perfect! Thanks for the help....and welcome to the forum. Erin. "
