"NACIS members may recall sessions at the 2003 meeting in Jacksonville FL and
2004 meeting in Portland ME on art & mapping. Participants in those sessions
have contributed to a special issue of Cartographic Perspecitves (53, Winter 2006)
that should be out very soon (if you are a NACIS member!). The focus is largely
on artists who use mapping in their work, and certainly provides insight into some
very creative uses of mapping.
Content in the special issue:
""Art and Mapping: An Introduction"" by Denis Cosgrove
""Map Art"" by Denis Wood
""Interpreting Map Art with a Perspective Learned from J.M. Blaut"" by Dalia Varanka
""Art-Machines, Body-Ovens and Map-Recipes: Entries for a Psychogeographic Dictionary""
""Jake Barton’s Performance Maps: An Essay"" by John Krygier
""A Catalogue Of Map Artists"" Compiled by Denis Wood
If you are not a NACIS member and want a copy of the issue, join NACIS (it
is a very affordable organization) or contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org) as there
may be some spare copies available for sale.
