I am trying to create a bathymetric map of the Delaware River using GIS.
I
have the NOAA nautical charts, but I am hoping to create a map with
countour lines, and possibly hsypometric tints and shading.
I am not familiar with how assemble and use such data.
Can anyone help by walking me through the steps or pointing me toward a tutorial?
Thanks very much!

How
about telling us what you have tried and done so far so we can get a
sense of where to start. tell us what datasets and tools you have
available.

"if you haven't already done so, trying visiting this page:
http://www.ngdc.noaa...al/coastal.html
to see if you can download the raster bath data for your area.
If so use this like you would any other DEM for shading/hypso tints, or for creating contours in a GIS.
