The HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) — University of the Built Environment and Metropolitan
Development) — was founded by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in 2006. It
is the only university Europe-wide which is solely focused on architecture and metropolitan
development. HCU combines the three academic fields Engineering and Natural Sciences,
Humane and Social Sciences, as well as Design and Planning. The university offers study
programmes in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Metropolitan
Culture, Resource Efficiency in Architecture and Planning, Urban Planning, and Urban
Design.


HafenCity University Hamburg offers in the research field - Geoinformatics/Geovisualization -
for the next possible date one full-time position limited to a period of 2 years, financed with
funds of BMBF and bound to respective allocation criteria, as

Responsibilities
During the two-year postdoctoral activity the job holder shall develop two to three research
projects towards application maturity, from which of them one shall be performed as a grantfunded
project at HCU afterwards. During the application process the PostDoc will be supported
by the Chair for Geoinformatics and Geovisualization. The proposed project should be
in the context of the research activities of the Chair and supplement these by original ideas
concerning the analysis and visualization of spatiotemporal information. Furthermore, the
postdoc shall independently organize conferences or similar projects (such as publications)
within his or her field of research.

 

Application Requirements
Prerequisite for the application is an excellent promotion in the fields of Geomatics, Geoinformatics,
Geodesy, Geography, Cartography or related disciplines. The job application has
