Hi CartoTalk friends!
I have always enjoyed reading these discussions from time to time, I attended two NACIS conferences in the past and had a great time meeting people from this community. Although I studied cartography, my path led me to graphic design and I love to see how the two fields overlap. Just saw a great design tutorial for creating a compass rose in Illustrator, so I wanted to share it.
How do folks here create their north arrows? From scratch in Illustrator, free vectors, defaults from GIS programs...?
Here is the tutorial: How to Create an Ornate Compass Rose in Illustrator
I have to say, the tedious task of tracing maps in Illustrator has helped me a lot as a graphic designer. My partner always gives me tracing work thanks to my cartography background!
