The Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) is seeking an individual to develop and manage digital geographic data within a GIS. This is a critical position within the ISGS geologic mapping program; the individual works closely with the ISGS Cartographer and several of the ISGS geologists to process geospatial data and prepare geologic maps for peer review and publication. Examples of map publications produced through this position can be reviewed at the ISGS website, http://www.isgs.illinois.edu/ and http://www.isgs.illi...maps/isgs-quads

A full description of the position and application information is available at http://www.isgs.illinois.edu/node/7740  The closing data for application is September 27, 2013.

The successful candidate will be part of the ISGS Quaternary and Engineering Geology section; however, a geology degree is not the key factor – rather, it is more critical that the successful applicant possesses and excellent technical grounding in GIS, cartography, and geospatial data analysis.
