Assistant Professor – GIScience
Duties will include conducting research and teaching courses in support of our GIScience program at the PhD, Master’s and undergraduate levels. We seek individuals capable of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in cartography and geovisualization.
The Department of Geography has 34 full-time faculty members serving more than 600 undergraduate majors in BA and BS programs, and over 150 graduate students in MS, Master of Applied Geography, and three PhD degree programs. The PhD programs focus on environmental geography, geographic education and geographic information science.
Required: A PhD degree in Geography or closely related field is required by time of appointment. A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and research is required. Successful candidates will conduct research and teach courses in support of our GIScience program at the PhD, Master’s and undergraduate levels. Graduate and other teaching responsibilities will be within the successful candidates’ areas of expertise.
Preferred: Preference may be given to candidates demonstrating evidence of seeking/securing external research grant funds.
