Hi,

I am wondering if any of you might be able to help me...

I am trying to make a map where I have 4 adjacent raster files of an area of Mauritius.

I am loading them into QGIS but I am unsure of what CRS to use. I am currently thinking that I should be using 'Le Pouce 1934 / Mauritius Grid    EPSG:3337' but I am unsure if this is correct.

Is there any way to find out which CRS I should be using from the raster files themselves? Or if the CRS I am using is correct?

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give!

The projection system you are thinking to use is : -----

EPSG:3337

Le Pouce 1934 / Mauritius Grid

  • WGS84 Bounds: 57.3000, -20.5000, 57.8000, -19.9500
  • Projected Bounds: 976044.2077, 966555.4746, 1028384.5444, 1027453.2407
  • Scope: Large and medium scale topographic mapping and engineering survey.
  • Last Revised: Jan. 16, 2006

If the images has predefined co-ordinate system in Projected Coordinate System I will suggest you not to change it. You can use UTM coordinate as it is simple to use also widely accepted.

If you can upload one of the rectified images (image size should tiny) I can extract the coordinate and send it to you . My mail ID is souvik.gis@gmail.com.
