Here's a blog post I wrote for Avenza on a neat trick for MAPublisher. Essentially, if you're using either Label Feature or Label Pro to label cities, and you copy the attribute schema (with x and y coordinates) along to the labels, you can easily remove unlabelled cities. So no orphaned points or texts!
