Hi

 

I need the latitude and longitude for the use in my project. I have taken the data from the open street map ( from Export XML) . Is that approach correct?? What else could be done??.

The OpenStreetmap XML data is in unprojected lat/lon coordinates, so that seems to be the correct way to go.

Thanks.Can i know what is the advantage if i store the lat and long in the catesian format?

What exactly do you mean by that? Or to approach this from the other end, what are you trying to achieve?

Thanks . I am working on project  in which the air pollution data such as gas values(CO,SO2,)along with the GPS coordinates are collected by the sensors which are fit in the vehicles. I need to map those coordinates to an addressable location , for this i need to create a database containing lat and long of various prominent locations and roads.

 

I have taken it from the Open Street map XML data.

 

How can i proceed with this scenario?
