Fun game with Google Maps: you get shown a satellite image and have to point at the corresponding location on a map. Very doable for this crowd, unless they show you an all-ocean tile...

So... who can beat my record of 47 miles?

OK, that's addictive. Instant gratification for those of us who think we're good at this game.

Wow all your scores are amazing! I finally got one of the easily recognizable California coast and I was still 181 miles off. If I remember, I'll try to figure out how many miles each pixel on the world map represents. Unless someone already knows?

Damn! 11 miles?

I have been playing a bit (it is a very addictive game - like crack for geographers...) and the closest i can get is 21 miles.

Haha, got an all ocean tile and got 218 miles, not too bad.

Anything under 40 miles has gotta be luck, even if I know exactly where it is, I can't get right on. Need a larger world map

Getting close is mostly luck as trying to determine the center point on the sample image and then hitting it on that tiny map is almost impossible. The difference between a few hundred miles and 11 is more about you click accuracy than geographic knowledge.
