In July 2011 when I announced the Beta-1 Cahill-Keyes Multi-Scale Megamap here, http://www.cartotalk...?showtopic=7360 among the shortcomings I mentioned were its lack of up-to-date borders, its lack of big lakes and inland seas, and its inherent splitting of Antarctica, Iceland, Russian Far East, etc. These have all been remedied in the Beta-2: Duncan Webb has taken care of the borders and lakes; and Mary Jo Graça augmented her Perl and OpenOffice.org Draw programs such that the map can now be plotted with contiguous extensions for the aforementioned land masses, plus some other islands. I have just posted a set of ten close-up screen grabs of these, plus four full-size pdf's of the Beta-2 at the respective scales of 1/1 million, 1/10 million, 1/50 million, and 1/100 million. (Jpeg, not pdf, of smallest attached below.)
The 1/1 million pdf, 45 MB, 40 m x 21 m (131' x 69') can be downloaded and viewed in a Chrome browser with lots and lots of scrolling. More details at http://www.genekeyes...-2-preview.html
