One of the cool things about Manifold 7 is the ability to link to a Google Maps image. This has led the Manifold people to produce a Basemap for the US. Today, I was poking around a bit and developed one for Europe.

Attached File  europe_basemap.png   228.97KB   113 downloads

This is a Manifold 7 project which includes country boundaries, built-up areas, roads, railroads, airports, hydrography and Google Maps street and satellite images. There's some limitations, mainly the use of free data (not very high in quality) and the fact the Google Maps link only returns version 1 images (no map data for Europe) :(

More information and download: here

On a somewhat related note, I can really recommend the Manifold training videos that are offered by gisadvisor.com.

The streetmaps issue has now been resolved and the download file has been updated. This means you'll be able to see the updated map tiles for Europe, rather than the basic ones.
