Hello!
I am currently having a lot of trouble trying to import a picture as a new symbol. I have a .png of a coffee cup that I'd like to use as a symbol for a thematic map that I'm making. I placed the image onto the artboard, but now it won't let me make it a new symbol, it just keeps saying " A symbol definition cannot contain a linked image." If anyone knows how I can navigate through this problem, advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm assuming you are using Adobe Illustrator. Sounds like you have a linked image and need to embed it. Select the image and then there should be a button somewhere top left that says "Embed", try that, see if it works.
