TINs don't smooth out the way a DEM will because if their very nature. They are made up of a series of facets so there are always hard edges between one facet and another. You can smooth them some by increasing the number of TIN faces but if you over do it your negating the reason for using the TIN in the first place. Instead use a DEM for your shaded relief, it should give you a much smoother surface, especially if you post process it in a photo editing program like PhotoShop to soften and blur the image.
