Hi! I'm Lyzi in Portland. I'm a GIS Technician at the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI | http://oregongeology.org) and I do some freelance cartography and analysis. I also just make maps for fun!

At work I use Esri products, but at home I use a combination of Esri and Adobe Creative Suite as well as with open source tools (OSM, TileMill, QGIS, etc). I love maps (that's not unique!) and good design does not come easily to me, but I'm always willing to ask questions and learn! Notable projects I've worked on in the past include the Infinite Atlas (http://infiniteatlas.com/) and campus maps for the University of Oregon (http://infographics.uoregon.edu).

I'm excited to use this forum to learn a lot! I will unfortunately not be attending the NACIS conference (going to watch my favorite football team play in Arizona!), but I hope all of you who are going have a great time. Portland is truly a great city. If you get a chance, head to the Cascadia Cartography Reception at the White Stag on Saturday evening and look at some maps from our agency (DOGAMI)!

Hi and welcome - sounds like some interesting stuff that you are working on! Why did it take you so long to find cartotalk? :)

Good to hear from a fellow Oregon person! Did you work on the "UO Interactive Map"? I definitely used that multiple times while I was studying there 2004-2009!
