Hi,

MapIgniter as been released. It is an Open Source GeoCMS based on MapServer, Postgis and OpenLayers, having CodeIgniter as the PHP framework.

GeoCMS Features
  • Manage Layouts, Modules and Blocks
  • Manage Users, Roles and Permissions
  • Manage Maps, Layers and Places (incl/ texts, images and video)
  • Tickets management about geographic places
  • Content rating in Maps, Layers and Places
  • and much more...

Web mapping is now easy, even wihout having professional GIS knowledge, your organization/company can now publish their geographic information on Intranet or Internet.

Web mapping without limits for free!

MapIgniter wiki is at http://marcoafonso.p...php?id=en:start

Soon, it will be moved to GitHub.

Thank you.

Seems a nice concept, didn't like the music on the video though.

Is this available only under Linux? It seems it needs a dedicated server is that correct?

Hello antonio,

Thank you for your questions :)

With a few adjustments it runs on Windows having MS4W. Giovanni Allegri has already tried that and it works.

For this kind of application its always better to have a dedicated server or a virtual server. Nevertheless, if a shared hosting can provide the required tools (MapServer and Postgis) then maybe its possible to run on a shared hosting...

Cheers!
