Trying to find out if Arcmap can do this, I get parcel data every quarter from our county. I have to join other data to it to make it useful for us. I have all this data in a geodatabase. I have to clip this data down to my city’s ETJ and city limits every time we have an update. Anyone know if I can make a future class for the geodatabase that only displays a set area? So I would not clip the county data I would just be projecting the area that I want to see. This will make doing updates a lot quicker. Any ideas? Thanks!

Some sort of 'mask' technique might work. Maybe you'll find ideas here: http://forums.esri.c...p...30&t=298266

Make a copy of your county's polygon as a feature class and make a donut hole of your city in that feature class. That's your mask.

ya i have clips of the parcels, but looking for a way to link a feature class to a new feature class. So when i get updates from my county i just replace it in the Geodatabase and the clipped feature classes update as well. may not be a way to do this.

Sounds like a join to me. Dynamic joins will update the target if the join table is altered. Not sure if that holds true if the entire join feature class is replaced but if the name is the same and in same location it might.
