Hello

I'm making a map with river network and need to label rivers in such a way that there is a arrow representing flow direction next to the river name. I've attached an example to make things clear.

Is there a way to accomplish this in ArcGIS ? I went through Maplex options but found no solution.

Can you do it with an arrow character from a font?

Yes, arrow font seems to be the easiest way.

I guess you have to use some magical statements in the label expression window. Can you provide an examples?
Will it be possible to rotate that arrow based on the river (polyline) flow direction?

Sorry, I don't know any examples. You might try asking this question of the Esri forums.

Thanks! That's it. But..

I've found an arrow that suits my map, but the arrow character is vertical.
My label expression is now
[name] & "<FNT name='ESRI Dimensioning' size='16'>" & "F" & "</FNT>" (the unicode for "F" is " & # 7 0 ; " - remove spaces)

Is it possible to rotate this character 90 degrees clockwise, or am I forced to use horizontal characters?
There's nothing about rotation in this ESRI help page
