Hi everyone!

I just joined CartoTalk, and I'm excited to dive in and see what I can learn from the community here. I'm a map-lover from childhood, but over the last two years I've also been playing around with making maps using open source software (mostly QGIS and Inkscape) for different personal hobby projects.

For the last year I've been publishing a blog called Political Geography Now, which uses maps and descriptive articles to cover changes in the world's borders and countries, as well as on-the-ground control in conflict zones and disputed areas. A lot of the maps I use are free ones from Wikipedia which I've slightly modified/improved, but I also make some of my own.

I'll probably post some of my maps to the Map Gallery soon, because I'm eager for some feedback to help me improve my technique. ;)

Cheers!
