I'm rescaling a map in MAPublisher. I have a symbol layer in which the symbols (similar to route shields) are made up of text over some graphic elements which are just grouped polygons. I've tried rescaling in MAPub as point and text but I always get the text staying the same size and the symbol in back getting larger. I need the symbols to reposition with the map but to remain exactly the same size. Is there an easier way to do this than by creating an actual point symbol for each symbol on my map? I know I should have set it up like that in the beginning but I didn't know what colors I'd be using for the routes.

Hi David,

It truly would have been best to have created the shields as symbols as MAPublisher provides options for how data is to be scaled with respect to changes made through the MAP View editor ( ie. either scale symbols with Map View or maintain original size ) The symbols as they are polygons will get resized as the scale changes. The scaling options only include the maintenance of size with respect to text size, symbol size and stroke weight. Polygons always get rescaled.

If you are still unable to make symbols out of these pieces of artwork you could try rescaling them through Illustrator by using Object-> Transform->Transform Each which allows you to scale the data individually as opposed to a group so the scaling is relative to each symbol and not the whole, so the extents remain the same but the size changes. You could use Illustrators info tool and select the grouped text/polygon shield and determine its size prior to changing the scale of the Map View, transform the Map View(you can set option to not rescale text under options in MAP View editor) then once the Map View has been set to the desired scale use transform each to scale the symbols to the size determined using the Info tool. I think this will do what you need.
