Hi!!

Look at this:http://www.softpedia.../D … ader.shtml

Purpose : download AND GEOREFERENCE the satellite images from google

Features:

- totally free (no limitation of zoom like google maps retriever for exemple BUT ADWARE)
- automatic creation of the final picture (no panorama to make at the end of the process)
- Draw a polygon in google earth, save it into .kml file and drag it to the .exe, clic start, it's done
- Preview window, so you can see where you are during the downloading
- Final sat picture comes with georeferencement files (.jpg + .jgw + .prj)

Tested on global mapper, sat pictures are very precise.

Enjoy and say me what you think about!!

Your link isn't working.

Also, I'm really curious as to whether this isn't in violation of Google's terms of service. Could you say something about that?

Google doesn't like very much the bots but it is not illegal. Indeed, the freeware doesn't sell any copyrighted image. The final image is written with "google" watermark and is for personnal use only. it is the same thing that make a screen capture of google earth and make a panorama with the files. furthermore, when you're surfing on google maps, the files are present in your internet temporary files, so you can take them and assemble them if you want on your computer. the freeware does the same thing...

In addition to that, the software doing the downloading is supported by ads, one could argue that's commercial. Don't want to come across as being all negative here, but there are some rather important legal limitations to consider.
