Good day.

It is Springtime, and your thoughts are no doubt turning to securing yourself a place on the Cartography Special Interest Group (CartoSIG) map awards judging panel.

July, and the Esri User Conference, will soon be here, and now is the time to volunteer your cartographic expertise in the service of helping identify three remarkable maps from the thousands of entries in the conference Map Gallery. Working with a small team of your colleagues, you too can participate in one of the highest profile activities of the CartoSIG. Having a map in the Map Gallery does NOT disqualify you from participation! (Nor does it disqualify your map from winning!) New judges are always welcome, and past judges are welcome back!

If you are attending the July Esri User Conference in San Diego, please consider participating in the map judging panel. If you will not be attending this year, but have a colleague who is, please bring this invitation to their attention. Past participants have consistently spoken of their stint as a CartoSIG judge to be among the most rewarding and memorable of their UC experiences.

CartoSIG is the community of cartographic users of Esri software; CartoSIG brings us together, and gives us a forum for interacting directly, as a community, with the people who build the tools we use everyday. Much of the recent attention to cartographic concerns, and new map-making tools and features, in Esri software is rooted directly in the discussions and debates that have taken place over the last ten years in the annual CartoSIG meetings.

So remember, if attending the Esri UC, to place the Annual Cartography Special Interest Group (CartoSIG) meeting (our eleventh!) on your schedule: It always takes place Thursday at mid-day.

Prospective judges should reply to me at the address below. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

As well, if your company would like to help sponsor us so we can provide some refreshments at our meeting, please contact me for further information.
