As promised some days ago, fresh from today’s installation at the Harbour Master’s Building, here are a few photographs of the information gateway for the Norwegian coastline for incoming passengers aboard cruise liners on North cape voyages.
Technical details for the signage:
- 1.8 mm Aluminium back plate
- 7 year laminated foil, 2 880 dpi
- PDF Press Quality FOGRA27, 1 450 x 1 550 mm, CMYK
- Laminate scratch resistant easy maintenance surface
The whole project went quite well considering the diminutive time schedule and extremely tight security at the Cruise Defence Embattlement!
A pleasant weekend to one and all,
Kevin-Paul
- Harbour Master’s Building, location in Vågen harbour

- Strandkaien Quay, Main Passenger Terminal

- Signage, opposite passenger gangway

- Angle view

- Location, with GPS coordinates and QR code

One of my proudest moments recently with the launch of the Stavanger City Map Guide in the heart of downtown Stavanger, major thoroughfare between Valberg Tower and Stavanger Cathedral. Personally for me a magical moment after 10 years hard slog and still finding it hard to believe being handed this prime advertising location for my artwork. Indeed an honour for an outsider like myself.
Also very proud to announce an official good quality print poster for sale in the Stavanger Tourist Information Office.
Eventually there will be a commercial web page for the map. I’ll try my best to get a few free copies for some CartoTalk followers.
Humorous comments on the wine bottle are very welcome!
That’s about it, keeping it nice and short & sweet.
Hope you’ll enjoy the following final images from the Stavanger project 2012,
...and that this thread may also help to motivate and inspire others in this amazing and honorable profession.
Best wishes to one and all,
Kevin-Paul

We are very pleased have been a small part of the final product, via our PDF Maps app etc.
Now the big question.....how can we get one of those fine art posters showing the iPhone and QR code etc for proud display in our offices in Toronto?

Hi Kevin-Paul,
Might be worth a visit to Stavanger, just to help myself to an iPad... ![]()

This is really great, Kevin.
I can't really tell from the angle of the photos, but are the QR codes and the reference to the mobile use and PDF Maps including in the airport display?
This idea of offering digital maps for direct download at airports is something we have been pushing for a while and it is nice to see Stavanger jumping aboard.
Cheers

...just a quick update with the brand new Concert Hall Cruise Ship Quay "signage" for THE PORT of STAVANGER Authority.
Format: 2 000 x 2 000 mm
QR Code for Stavanger City Map Guide included.
THE PORT of STAVANGER Authority love the total presentation on this. It's the cruise visitors first confrontation with Stavanger Norway before taking a leisurely stroll into the city centre...hopefully "WITH" the map on a device...
As always, best wishes to one and all,
Kevin-Paul
