I'm trying to use National Hydrography Dataset data for a map, but I can't get anything to read the files. I have MAPublisher and Global Mapper, but neither seems to work. On the NHD website, they mention that there are shapefiles available, but I can't find them anywhere. Any ideas?

Quick googling lead me to this page which contains links to download the shapefiles...

You can get the NHD from http://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov/. You can order by state or county, and the 3rd step lets you specify the format, including shapefile.
