Group,
I frequently find it impossible to access Cartotalk due to either a CGI error in a script or page timeouts. Quite often it happens for an entire morning over here. Anybody else notice similar behaviour?

oh yeah. I have a feeling it works better in our (Europe) evenings.

For the first time. I couldn't access CartoTalk yesterday (Sunday). The screen indicated a database error. This has never happened before.

When you say frequently, do you mean daily, weekly? I haven't noticed any down time recently, but maybe I need to do some additional monitoring. I'd definitely like to hear if US people are having this same issue.

It happens almost every weekday during morning hours in Europe. Also most of yesterday.

I've been unable to acces regularly over the last 2-3 weeks. A couple hours every few days. yesterday was by far the longest. I got up at 6:30 am and was not able to access until after lunch (EST).
I'll get a screen shot of the problem next time it occurs.

Yes, please.I'll get a screen shot of the problem next time it occurs.
I have set up a 30 day trial account with Alertra.com to ping HTTP and run a custom script that looks for "Welcome Guest" in the HTTP results (which should catch when there is a DB error screen).
BTW this is great and expensive service, but if you need to test a site for a specific problem the full featured 30-day free trial is useful.

I thought this was regular maintenance or upgrades and that you were aware of it....

I also have troubles in the CET morning hours up until noon. Slow loading is the biggest issue.

nick,
i've noticed sometimes certain pages, especially the view new posts page, return a pink error message, which i don't remember what it states. will pay more attention next time and forward. but i can usally make it back to the home page and access a post from a different way. I usually just figure you are tinkering with some aspect of the site that causes it, but i guest that's not the case. rarely is the site completely not available, although i have experienced that as well.

This happens when your search returns no results. When there are no new post. This is normal behaviour.i've noticed sometimes certain pages, especially the view new posts page, return a pink error message, which i don't remember what it states.

I've not had any problems, at least not any sort of regular problem, accessing Cartotalk. I am usually on between 8-10 am EST, M-F.
