Looking at recent developments in web design with HTML5 and CSS3 and web font libraries which include spacing, , browser based vector mapping is not too far off. You can create lines and polygons already in HTML5, and with the available fonts, it will not be too hard to place them on drawn features. Does anyone else follow web developments with this in mind?
Still not sure how this would be marketable compared to other options such as open source tiled map API, but its exciting nonetheless.
