Have any of you Manifold users used the incorporated IMS?
What level/language of programming do you feel is required for basic pan/zoom/info type commands?
Do you know of any map site on the web that is powered with this software?

Rob,
I did briefly look at it, 'for fun', when I just had it. I may actually give it a second go in the near future because I need a WMS setup to serve raster images.
Some things I found:
- Manifold IMS works on Microsoft's webserver (IIS). There is an unofficial hack for Apache, but since you need Manifold installed as well, you're limited to Windows.
- Programming is in ASP. There is an unofficial hack that shows some basic stuff in PHP
As for the basic functionality, I'm almost certain that's offered by default. If not, I'm sure there will be samples on georeference.org

Hugo,
Yes, you need to have a copy of Manifold installed on the server. But here's the beauty: this can be the $245 version. No expensive server-license or anything like that.
