Hello
I have got 4 coordinates points from Romania country
But I can not understand what did coordinate system used for them.
I want transfer these coordinates to genetic coordinates in latitude and longitude
Is there any solution for such a problem?
these is points:
446562.90,595565.40
455816.30,567545.10
433608.30,559795.50
423805.50,587815.70

They look like Stereo 70 (based upon Dealul Piscului 1970 datum). If they're listed in easting,northing order, they're somewhere around Cluj-Napoca. If listed in northing,easting order, more towards Brasov.

The map projection algorithm is the European version of stereographic. Esri calls it "Double stereographic."

The coordinate system is supported in ArcGIS and there are two transformations between Dealul Piscului 1970 and WGS 1984.

PROJ.4 supports double stereographic as "sterea".

You can find out more about Stereo 70 from ESPG, either in the registry or the web site.

unfortunately I have not got very knowledge about several map projection and tools for transformation with them.
So clearly I am following for a method to transfer these coordinates from this system to geodetic or UTM system.
I only know these coordinates are for Romania country.

Do you have access to any GIS software? If you do, someone may be able to identify if that software can accomplish the task (and how to do it).

PROJ.4 can be downloaded from the web, here. I've only used it a little, and not recently, so I do not feel qualified to describe how to install and use PROJ.4.
