I am currently working on a project and am having issues finding certain historical US information for the time period I'm looking for. If anyone can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Listing the specific time period and data you are looking for will probably help you get better answers. If you need historic census data you can try the NHGIS: https://www.nhgis.org/. I believe the USGS now has all of their historic map data scanned and available online. Not georeferenced, but it can be quite easily. And David Rumsey has a huge collection of historic maps online as well.

Here are a few sites to check out in addition to the NHGIS site:
http://whatwasthere.com/
http://nationalmap.gov/historical/
But, the more info you can provide the better we'll be able to help you
