Hello,

I have been able to make a clumsy conversion of the contours for my area of interest (around Nabire and the Paniai lakes in Papua, Indonesia) from some Garmin IMG files prepared by Weiaun (http://maps.three15.org/node/39).

I'm just back from the first kayak expedition to the area and it would be really neat to be able to map the area with some more of the information we gathered.

All the polygons end up flattened on one layer and are not contiguous (cannot be filled).

I need profesional help!

The grid squares I want to convert to Illustrator contours (or a shapefile for Ortelius) are at http://three15.org/topo/AG102-id/

They are in particular:

69041136
69041137

69051135
69051136
69051137

This is going to make a big file (around 1.5GB perhaps).

Hi Peter,
I can help and I'm also local(ish) - near Llandudno.
May I suggest possibly looking at ASTER as an alternative source for the DEM.
It has a much finer resolution (30m) compared with SRTM (90m).
