Dear friends,

I was trying to extract elevation value from a ASTER GDEM data using Arcmap 9.3, data is in .tiff format, please any one guide me in this problem

When you bring it up in ArcMap, what do you get then? You may need to recalculate for negative figures in the data - if you can see that data are up in the 60000 range.

I could not able to install, showing some error, and

Sent the .TIFF file to GRID file and then save it as integer so it can populate the field column. Then do the extract values you wanted.

If you do have ArcGIS (and want to use that) - learn how to do it there instead of trying other pieces of software! (unless you are hampered by license restriction or time!)

i could able to extract values which i want,

now the thing is i have a Shapefile which has 13706344 points, i wanna to export that .shp into dbf file,
but dbf file can store only 65535 rows, so now i m stuck their,

so pls help me

Are you sure DBF can only store 65535 rows? I have shapefiles (which include a DBF for the attributes) with way more than that number of features.

Keep in mind some database/spreadsheet software that you can use to view DBF files can't handle more than 65535 rows.

I think the 65535 limit is an excel thing - do you want/need to use excel to work with the data? You probably want MS Access or equivalent instead...
