I've been diving into web mapping lately and there are some beginner resources that I've found to be very helpful.
The first is this white paper on the OpenGeo Architecture:
http://opengeo.org/p...o-architecture/
And the second is Don Meltz's Serving Maps for Free blog series:
http://donmeltz.com/...-maps-for-free/
While I already know a bit of programming, I used this tutorial to get me up to speed fast on java script:
http://www.w3schools...js/js_intro.asp
Any other resources you'd care to share on this topic would be great. Thanks.

I frequently rely upon searching http://gis.stackexchange.com/ for help and there is also many blogs around that have great info/examples or mini tutorials, including my own, http://www.spatialan...a/code-gallery/
I have used, http://openlayers.org/ which has a lot of great functionality. Their API documentation is outstanding. I also recommend https://www.packtpub...ners-guide/book
Hmm... more will come to mind but here are some more links to other javascript libraries that I recommmend dabbling in.
