Hi all,
I have a number of Illustrator map tiles which are very detailed, with about 60 layers in each. I am aiming to merge 4 tiles into one larger tile. This is technically possible, however, the copying process seems to create artifacts when copying from one tile to another. By this I mean objects appear that were not there before, and must be manually deleted to achieve the same effect as the original map. These objects don't appear to be anything to do with clipping masks, groups etc. This only seems to occur when the "Paste Remember Layers" option is on. When it is turned off, the layers are copied correctly. However, it's difficult to work with the whole tile as one layer because of overlaps and also the need to turn layers off and on etc.
I am using Illustrator CS3. Any help or similar experiences would be much appreciated
