I am trying to remember what artistic title blocks on historic maps are called. They usually have some sort of scene associated to the map. Does anyone know?

I discovered a great collection on Rumsey's site although I recently came across a rather sobering one he didn't have.

The term cartouche comes from the symbol used in Egyptian hieroglyphs, by the way. Used when writing a royal name, kinda like an ancient form of bold stance type.
