hi there
I manage a campground adjacent to a national forest with an extensive trail system.
the forest service (FS) puts out a large map yearly, published in hard-copy and on web as a PDF (I think it is GIS, I probably can get their raw data if I know what to ask for). the FS map covers an area much larger than can be accessed from our campground, and leaves off many important details such as local points of interest and open connecting trails that are on private ground.
the FS trails map also changes every year, as they re-locate, close, or open new trails.
so every year we take on the tedious and time-consuming process of creating our local map again . . . which we do with scanning in copies, markers, MS paint, etc. there are many more points of interest that I'd like to add to our local map also.
I would like a system that can be "layered", so that when the FS changes their map we can just add on our info.

p.s. --also as more and more phones have GPS does anyone know if customers could load a map onto their phone and know where they are on the trails? or if we could have a GPS loaded with the maps and rent to customers to take with them on the trails and know where they are?
