I read the book about a year ago, and was a little taken aback to find no mention whatsoever of the Washington Meridian, so that the author suggests that boundaries of states such as Utah and Colorado were set relative to Greenwich. That made me a little suspicious of how well he had done his research.

Yes the BBC has great content so a shame not always available oversees.
