Concatenate individual letters back into full type in Illy?

This questions is related to my previous one asking for help exporting PDFs from GeoMedia http://www.cartotalk...?showtopic=7241

When exporting via a PDF print driver almost all text objects on the map are split into individual letters on their own layer. I think this is is causing some performance issues and need to find a way to reconnect the type and condense the number of layers. There used to be a Concatenate plug in for Illustrator here: http://rj-graffix.co...re/plugins.html but looks like they don't have it updated for CS 4. Any other similar options for PC based Illustrator CS4?

Try the javascript from John Wundes - joinTextFrame.js

You would have to manually go through and highlight the texts that need to be merged though, which can be quite a task...
