Hello.
I have S-57 files which I would like to extract data from, in order to obtain a DEM.
I am using Global Mapper and I would like to know if anyone can help me considering how to do this conversion.
I have explored some possibilities but I am not sure if I can trust the final files obtained from conversion.
My final objective is to obtain a PC Raster file with the available data.
Thank you very much in advance.

Hi,
You can use fme to convert the files. It is really very good for this. It depends if the files are locked or not. I use either FME to convert or I use a script that reads the file. FME is the best method I have used, fast, easy and reliable. You can read more about s-57 format at the links below.

Thanks

Well, GlobalMapper can open S-57 and export it to whatever you want...
S-57 is a vector format. DEM - are you wanting a raster digital elevation model?
I think you want to load the S-57, find the topo/elevation line feature and the elevation points (do a search) and export that - create a grid (or something similar).
S-57 is probably not the best source of elevation data - you're probably better off using another source.
