I have files with the extension .GEO and .img ... the .GEO is DTM as I know and the .img is the raster file. Also there are other files with the extension .pal , and .sol.
These files comes from ATDI company.
So is there like a viewer for them ??
Free is better.
Thanks a lot.

There appear to be several programs using the *.geo format. You should find the viewer you need here.....
http://www.grime.net/gistools/g.htm
There's shareware which looks promising for *.geo files and maybe some of your other files as well. There's a 30-day trial version.

For other file extensions, just go back to the index at the top of the page.
Hope this helps

it's really a big fellow. Opening it in notepad will spend much time. Maybe you can try SMS software which can open *.geo file. You can download a demo:

What's more, you should take care of your erdas license setup. I think you failed to setup successfuly probably because of it.

TextPad Webpage
I successfully opened and edited in 300+MB files. It´s a real neat program.

Or for opening large ASCII Files of any sort, I recommend TextPad.
I concur. Textpad rocks!

I tried everything, but nothing was able to open these files but ATDI software.
Maybe they locked the file ? or maybe they have their own file format....
Thanks everybody for the support

I met a .img formatted file which is not an ERDAS IMAGINE file. Plus .sol and .pal files. The .img and .sol files seem to have a 1010 byte header to be skipped. Open the files in Textpad or Edxor and you'll see in the header the image size and number of cols & rows like this: 100.000000100.000000M___________________8541______11725. Import in Erdas as generic binary, unsigned 8 bit data.
In my case .img was a scanned map image, and .pal I guess is a Microsoft palette file used for making the colors for the land use classification .sol (=Scenario Overlay?) image.
Then the map coordinates etc. should be defined according to the header as well.
But there must be some more straightforward way too to handle that img version.
Irfanview software says img is also GEM Raster format. http://www.irfanview.com/: GEM-IMG read only, not write, and plugin FORMATS (version 4.28) required.
