One or two mouse buttons? Jobs or Gates? Cupertino or Redmond? I got curious, and there is not enough polls on this board!
(came to think about this when seeing Rick's message about MacWorld)
I assume that there are people on the board who use both, but reply with the primary platform (esp. for cartography)
Mac vs PC

Frax,
Why not just add a choice for both as it is a sensible approach.
I know what I prefer when given a choice but I am at the mercy of clients and have to be able to offer both.

I spend most of my time in Linux ( Knoppix 4.0) and use windows only for GIS. No spyware, no viruses, no crashes, no problems.

martin, sorry -- I can't seem to modify the poll alternatives afterwards. let your vote be your preference then.

After I got that first vote in, it looked so promising. Oh well. But I know that if you had a good powerful alternative for your GIS issues on the Mac you'd all want to change in a heartbeat...right?

Hugo,
Couldn't you edit the poll (Edit button in top right hand corner)? Anyway, I've added the 'both' option.

Hooray! No self-respecting discussion board is complete without a "Mac vs. PC" topic. CartoTalk has now hit the big time

I'm surprised it took so long.

Thank you so much for that. It's good to know that I am not alone in my dislike of what in my family is called the "silver cat", for its erratic and often unpredictable behavior.
Came across this one on Slashdot today:
About Macs...
Watch it, it's funny... [ducking and running]

Love it.
It all comes down to what you're familiar with. I've gone back and forth several times in my careers around computers. I'm just in a Mac mood during this time in my life. But I will admit to enjoying getting in and using the command line from time to time.
