Here is a new (small) map I created this week. It's a part of an educational project I've been creating in Flash (still in progress). Follow the link below and then click on the link that says "Part 3: Geologic Map" , then hit the "Next" button. You should then see the map. I would appreciate any feedback on the map and on the project as a whole. I have to turn it in for a grade next week, any advice would be great. Erin

Looks good. I have a few comments:
1) Once you get to the end of "Fossilization" there is no Next button to go to section 3, although you can go back from section 3 to section 2.
2) There is no way to step through the animation if you want to speed it up
3) The Back and Next buttons should be in a consistent location on every screen
4) When you click on the dots on the geologic map, the info boxes cover each other up, so if you click on a dot a second time nothing happens. Each time you click it should clear the last box and show the next one. Better yet why make them click, just show the info on mouse over and hide it on mouse out.
5) Why not label the dots on the geologic map? You have room for them. This gives the user a small bit of info about what they are looking at, and a bigger hit target for rollover.
6) On the quiz you should make the text clickable, not just the circle.
7) I would make the Source Data and Credits separate pages. It's confusing that they appear in the boxes and then stay there as you change sections. Especially on the map, since the map info boxes are covered by them.
I hope that helps.

Looks good, but there's a typo in the description of Weber Sandstone...
In addition to Nick's comments, here's some more minor nitpicks:
- the dinosaurs in the animation should be scaled to their relative sizes
- where's the quiz results?

Thanks for the comments guys. I really appreciate it. I'm going to start making the suggested changes asap. Overal I'm not very happy with what I've done with this project. These suggestions are definitley going to improve things. I also realized that I made an enormous mistake and designed the thing at a size of 900X700 in Flash. I should have kept it under 800X600. Now I am wondering if there is any way to resize all of the individual layers at the same time in Flash and generate a new file. Live and learn. Thanks again. I will post an update as soon as it's done. Erin

How does the header graphic on my project look on your computer screen (the graphic at the top of the project). Pixelated? Terrible?
Yesterday I worked on it at school and just viewed it for the first time my own computer and it looks miserable. Is anyone else seeing this? Erin

The header graphic looks pretty good. I'm running at 1280x1024. No pixellation whatsoever.

Thanks Hans for checking it out for me. I'm not sure why it looks so terrible on my home computer. Maybe it's just that kind of day....
