Hello everyone,
It's a long time since I have not publishde anything in cartotalk, but it has been year with some work.
As last year in Xmas, I have today some time to show you some maps I've make this year.
I will publish some examples along the day.
This is a two map exmple of a battle agains moors in Spain, "Las Navas de Tolosa". The map of Spain is just to explain the political situation at the moment. It was designed inspired in the middle ages .
The second one is a 3D reconstruction of the battle.
I hope you like them
Best regards and Happy new year.

The maps look quite professional. I really like how you utilized the old paper color to make the first map feel authentic to the time period.

Is this paper color a standard pattern in illustrator?

thank you
the texture for the paper is not a standard illustrator or photoshop one. It was made in photoshop mixing different paper textures and using filters to add noise, crackels, etc...
then they where adjusted using hue/saturation adjustement layers...
I cant give a thumbs rule,l since avery of my maps uses a different or manipulated texture, and they are composed on the fly.
but mainly, they are made as i describe.. mixing different textures and filters
best regards
