MAPS/GRAPHICS PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
National Geographic Magazine, located in Washington, DC, is seeking a Maps/Graphics production assistant to join our unique team of editors and designers.
The position has a strong focus on Cartography. Proficiency with GIS software is required.
The production assistant (Production specialist) is responsible for the creation or fine-tuning of maps and graphics within feature and departments pages of the magazine. The position includes assisting Design Editors with layouts and assisting Maps and Graphics Editors with large projects, assuring quality control and coordinating efforts with NGM departments for on-time delivery of maps, graphics and layouts.
The ideal candidate embraces a strong collaborative team approach, and is enthusiastic for attention to quality and detailed production work. Candidate also possesses an interest in journalism/photojournalism, and the intellectual curiosity that contributes to a world-class publication.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years professional design experience.
Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, GIS software
