Hi There,

Mapicture Aps have produced a map showing the occupancy rate by region in New Zealand.

The map is showing seasonal fluctuations, and that Auckland and Wellington is in the top allmost all the time.

Statistics New Zealand have an outstanding service with both GIS maps and data for free.

Best Regards

Samo

Looks nifty at first glance, but you may want to double check spelling....for instance, there's a typo in the title ("Accommondation").

It took me a long time to figure out what this map was showing. Maybe the title should say something like
Hotel Occupancy Rates by Month
with a subhead explaining
Includes all tourist accommodations
if in fact it includes caravan parks, backpackers hostels and the like.

Cool Ap, I like it.

You should add somewhere that the occupancy is displayed in (presumably) percent of available units.

I find that the map itself and the "time monitor" (for lack of a better word) in the lower right are too far away from each other so I can't see them well enough at the same time. So It took me several "years" to realize that the South Island main occupancy time period coincides with Christmas season.

Funny that the occupancy rate for the three northern regions of South Island (Marlborough, Nelson and Tasman) are always the equal; the same seems true for Gisborne and Hawke's Bay on eastern North Island. Have those regions possibly been summed together in the statistics? That should be mentioned somewhere if applicable.
Cheers,

Kathi

Very cool map! I like the interactivity of it. Maybe you can tie this into accommodation searching for the Rugby Word Cup for next year!?

Hi all of You,

Thanks for the advices! We did some changes to the maplegend and the spelling. It is allways a bit tricky to write very short maplegends, and still be able to communicate exactly what the map is showing (at least in a not native language).

Best regards

Samo
