I think this is a really fun and desconstrutive way to look at modern mapping!
It's also going to be an interesting documentation of how google maps' aesthetics have changed over the years. I notice a pretty major style change already in the linework on the paintings vs. the current style on google. Looking back at googles design choices in the years to come might be similar to how we can appreciate pixel art from old video games now.
