As an employee of ActioNet, you will have the opportunity to work with the Humanitarian Information Unit (HIU) in the Department of State’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR). The HIU is located within INR’s Office of the Geographer and Global Issues (GGI). The HIU is a unique U.S. government interagency center established for the identification, collection, analysis, and dissemination of unclassified analytical and geospatial information critical to senior U.S. government decision-makers and partners in preparation for and response to complex humanitarian emergencies overseas. An important facet of the HIU mission is to promote best practices for humanitarian information management. The HIU specializes in representing geospatial data, phenomena, and factors related to complex emergencies in unique maps, info-graphics, and other products.

Currently, most cartographic products require finishing using Adobe Illustrator.
Responsibilities will also include producing project specific data sets, helping to maintain the geographic databases, ensure that data naming and filing conventions are adhered to, and maintaining metadata according to office standards.
Any candidate contacted for an interview must be prepared to show examples of their best cartographic work.
All applicants must hold a TS level clearance at the time of application.
