We (as in the crew) think that Rudy's idea of splitting up this section into different subsections for specific software products is a good idea. So which sections do you think would be most useful/popular?
Any sections we've missed? It's a multiple choice question and we'd probably end up picking the top 3 + other.

Hans- I don't think the number of questions in the forum really warrants a split. Adding more and more forums, simply makes navigation more difficult and more people will likely miss topics of interest. I have personally administered a number of forums over the years and I have found that less forums generates better discussions. My 2 cents...

I tend to agree with PetroGIS. There aren't that many posts of any kind on this forum let alone specific software posts. Compared to other forums it's relatively slow around here (which is nice). The search feature should handle the sorting function just fine. I'd rather have the one spot to check to see what;s being asked about.
If we're looking for ways to improve the forum might I suggest setting it up so that every topic a forum member posts in is automatically aded to his "subscribed" list; that there be a "view all subscriptions" link in the menu bar and that view all new posts default to a longer date than one day. There could also be an easier way to find all of my old posts and topics. Some of these issues may be solvable in the options panels but I haven't had any luck so far.

Agree with previous posters! No split is not an option in the poll... ! The number of posts are not unwieldy, yet, and a lot of posts cross software boundaries too with suggestions on alternative workflows and tools. What we can do is to suggest to posters to - if the post is limited to a specific s/w - specify the software in the subject. (or subtitle)

Okay, I have to ask: at what point does this get unpinned?
