Hi all,

I have a basic question in comparing two rasters in ArcGIS.

My first raster is a dem- elevation data and the second one is land cover information. I just want to know how many cells of different land use classes were falling in particular intervals of my elevation data. Or simply within two categories - above and below 500m msl, what are the land use types and their frequency.

I tried some zonal statistics in ArcGIS but it always gives the total number of cells of a particular raster but ignores the values of the second raster.

Thanks in advance

Hm, zonal statistics should do the trick... Have you reclassified your elevation data into the categories you want to have, e.g. have all values < 500m reclassified to value 1 and so on?

First reclass your DEM and then do a combine. The attribute table (the VAT-table) of the raster would then contain the information you are looking for - counts of cells in all possible combinations of the classes.
