Everyone attending the July 2010 ESRI International Users Conference is invited to the Ninth Annual Cartography Special Interest Group (CartoSIG) meeting.
It takes place in Room 24B on Thursday, July 14, and runs from 11.45 am to 1.15 pm (over the lunch hour). Light refreshments are provided.
This meeting is an opportunity for people working in the area of cartography with ArcGIS software to hear about technology updates and to discuss technical and workflow challenges. The usually lively discussions at these meetings builds mutual awareness across the community, and have many times lead directly to developments in the software. The CartoSIG is where the users and developers meet.
It is also the site for building the user community. For instance, one initiative arising directly from the group was the institution of the CartoSIG Map Awards.
We all know ESRI runs a map competition at their conference, but did you know that there is a completely separate set of awards presented by the CartoSIG? This year, for the fourth year running, a panel of seven (non-ESRI) cartographers will select three maps from the entire Map Gallery for special recognition.
If you are attending the ESRI conference, put this event on your schedule. If you have never been to the CartoSIG: Welcome! If you have joined us before: welcome back!
